Clarice Leverna Ogletree Morrow

Clarice Leverna Ogletree Morrow of Kingston, born May 17, 1919 passed away July 14, 2011. She was the fourth child of William Leonidas and Barbara Edmiston (Cole) Ogletree of Ashland, Alabama. Some fond memories from family are: Harold Ogletree said that as a little girl Leverna got up on the bench at the table before anyone else one day. Their daddy said "Climb down from there young lady!" She got on her hands and knees and climbed down. During her teen years, nylons were cheaper than socks so that was what she wore. She didn't like school, especially language or geography. When in the 11th grade her daddy told her she didn't have to go back, she quit! And then, after marriage Leverna began working for $1 a day chopping cotton, but decided unh unh that was not for her so to the house at mid day she went. Leverna was a caring, gentle special lady who everyone respected and loved. Her children will tell you that she also taught discipline and the love of God. She loved the old gospel music, enjoyed wearing hats to church, was an excellent cook and seamstress therefore she always made her daughter's clothes as Daddy always said "All my boys wear skirts." To know her was to love her! She was preceded in death by: her parents Leonidas and Barbara Ogletree, Vida Mae Ogletree Morris, Lowell William Ogletree, Annie Maude Ogletree, Scebron Owen Ogletree, Leonard Forrest Ogletree, and granddaughters Donita Roberts and Wanda Lea Hendrix. Survivors include: husband of 72 years Lloyd Brittain Morrow; daughters Janet Morrow Hendrix, husband Gerald, Gayle Morrow Neenan, husband Paul, Anita Morrow Dollahite, husband Ken. Brothers: Clarence Paul Ogletree, wife Catherine, Harold Baron Ogletree, wife Ann. Grandchildren: Linda Michele Johnson, husband Brent, Jerry Wayne Hamilton, wife Charlene, Simone Kittrell Wright, Steven Dale Hamilton, wife Dawn, Leverna Rebecca Hamilton Donavan, husband Derek, Brandon Gerald Hendrix , wife Karmen. Great grandchildren: Brad and Brittany Hamilton, Joshua and David Donavan, Kimberlyn and Thomas Hendrix andBriley, Amanda, Banks, Rachael Hamilton, Ashlea Michelle Johnson Cox, Dilan and Preston Masters and Cameron Wright. Great great grandchildren: Jonathan and Alexis Cox. Funeral 10am Monday July 18, 2011 in the Kyker Chapel with Dr. Sonny Works officiating. Burial in Roane Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Caris Healthcare (Hospice) of Lenoir City. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7pm Saturday July 16, 2011 at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
