James "Bobo" Edward Wright

It is with sadness we note the passing of James Edward Bimbo Bobo Podge Wright, aged 61, on October 10, 2015, after a short but wicked battle with cancer. Throughout his life, James had many different loves: his family, golf, Theresa, his daughters, motorcycles, vintage audio equipment, guns and ammo, recovery and his brothers and sisters in it, Pink Floyd, being SuperBobo to Grant, ORCC, and two special 4 -legged roommates. He worked at TVA, with his family at Wright’s Siding, as caretaker for grandson Grant, and finally most recently at Oak Ridge Country Club. He always said he was a ’54 model with high miles, and we know that to be true. A spiritual experience sometime after November 2004 profoundly changed his life, his outlook, his behavior, and his regard for his fellow man. It was the greatest gift he received and the greatest gift he gave to those he loved. Because of this rebirth, we all had the opportunity to see him serve others selflessly. We got to see ripples of change, beginning with him, extend and gently touch all who knew him. He lost his mother, Margaret Wright, Easter Sunday this year. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years Theresa, father Barney Wright, his sister Pam Davidson, brothers Tim Wright and Matt Wright, daughters Rae Laxton, Talia Nutting and Erin Potterton, grandson Grant, brothers from another mother Paul and John, special friends Kendall and James, and countless other friends, in-laws, outlaws, co-workers, cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives, most of whom visited him during his illness. Special thanks to Nurse Ron and Dr. Samer at Roane Medical Center, Carolyn at Caris Home Health, Drs. Foust and Strike at Thompson Cancer Survival Center, and, of course, nurse and daughter Erin for her around the clock care. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of a life well-lived on Sunday, October 18 at 2pm in the ballroom of the Oak Ridge Doubletree Hotel. In lieu of flowers, please remember Bimbo and be at peace with those around you. Bimbo was pretty good at accepting people exactly as they were. A fund has been set up at the Kingston Regions Bank to provide golf equipment to an underfinanced, enthusiastic young golfer(s).
