Joey Lee Hawn

Joey Lee Hawn (age 76) of Kingston Tennessee, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Monday, September 9, 2024 at Methodist Medical Center. Joey was born on June 7, 1948 in Gary Indiana to the late Archie and Elsie Hawn. Joey was the oldest of three children. Joey is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Hawn; son: Michael Hawn and sister: Diane Leffew. He is survived by his son, James Hawn; brother, Jimmy (Doris) Hawn; special grandchildren, Todd (Miranda) Hawn, Allston Hawn, Lashae Hawn; great-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Sterling, Kyah, Valkyrie, Zylah, and Anastasia. Many special friends and a special companion, Lady Dog. Joey married Linda, the love of his life, just out of high school on November 29,1969. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Joey was a member of Salem Baptist Church for many years. That's where you would find him on Sunday morning. He was the definition of a hard worker. He devoted his life to work as a Laborer, Operator, and Brick Mason to name a few. After retiring, you could find him working with his dump truck and bobcat. He never really sat still very long. When he wasn’t working, he was “Papaw”, a role he took very seriously. He was the very best papaw a child could ever have. In his free time, you would either find him fishing, at the dirt track, maybe a yard sale or even at the bluegrass shindig with his buddies. Joey was the definition of love and kindness -the type of kindness the Lord speaks of. He was the most selfless and gentle person you could ever meet and was always willing to help anyone in need. Most of the time, that's exactly what he was doing. Joey never took one day for granted. Every day was “a beautiful day” to him. To know Joey was to love Joey. With great love comes great pain, and with great loss comes the greatest pain of all. If love could’ve saved him, he would’ve lived forever. We find peace in knowing he is back into the arms of his forever sweetheart. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Brown Cemetery with Reverend Ted Clower officiating. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Hawn Family.
