Lucile Nichols

Lucile Nichols, our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, died July 8, 2007 on her 89th birthday from injuries received in an automobile accident on June 27, 2007. She was born in McMinn County and grew up in Knox County where she met the love of her life, Ray Nichols. They celebrated 73 years of marriage Oct. 28, 2006, and were recognized as the oldest living married couple in Monroe County. Lucile was preceded in death by infant son, James Richard Nichols, parents, Charles and Grace Webb of Kodak, brothers, Roy, Ray, and Earl Webb of Knoxville and sister, Viola Webb of Athens. Lucile is survived by husband, Ray Nichols of Sweetwater, daughter and son-in-law, Erb and Frances Mowery of Clinton, sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Anita Nichols of Knoxville, and Ted and Ruth Nichols of Sweetwater. Grandchildren are Kendra Hill of Athens, Kelly Nichols of Sweetwater, Vicki McKamey (Don) of Clinton, Robert Mowery (Carolyn) of Caryville, Donna McPheeters of Knoxville, Cindy Nichols of Knoxville, and Bobby Ray (Nick) Nichols (Cindy) of Knoxville, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, she is also survived by sisters, Jerry (John) McCall of Knoxville and Mary Dorothy Evans of Halls, brothers, Harry (Helen) Webb of Maynardville and Claude (Mayme) Webb of Sevierville, sister-in-law, Ursa Donovan of Hardin Valley and good friend, Betty Thompson. Lucile was a member of Fairview Baptist church for 56 years and dearly loved her church family. One of Lucile’s greatest joys was cooking for her family. If she knew you were coming, your favorite food was on the table. Lucile was a master quilter having quilted wedding and baby quilts for every child, grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower, but loved her roses. Most of all, she loved her family and they all knew it. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, Sweetwater where the family will receive friends Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 8:00 PM in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Johnny Carr and Dr. Gerald Atkins officiating. Graveside Service and Interment Wednesday, 10:00 AM at Sweetwater Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Don McKamey, Bubba Cozart, Robert Mowery, Bobby (Nick) Nichols, Jr., Bobby Mullins, Hank Hill, and Joe McKamey. Kyker Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
