Roy Bud Nail

Roy “Bud” Nail, 77 of Kingston, passed away Tuesday May 15, 2007 after a courageous 12yr. battle with cancer. Born June 14, 1929 and originally from the Crossville area, Bud was known by many as a barber in Kingston for over 50yrs. He served as a Barber Inspector for the State of Tennessee. For many years he was a real estate broker with his own business in Kingston. He was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Union #38 and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Valley of Knoxville. Also a member of the Kerbela Shrine Temple of Knoxville and the American Legion. In his early years, Bud had served as a volunteer fireman and sheriff’s department deputy. In 1976 he was awarded the rank of Colonel, Aide de Camp, Governor’s Staff by the Governor of Tennessee. Bud loved to play golf and for years was a regular at local courses and enjoyed playing in tournaments. He was especially proud of the hole-in-one he got at Southwest Point Golf Course, hole #9 in 1978. He was a well known and beloved member of the community and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to express deep thanks and gratitude to the wonderful caretakers from Caris HealthCare. They are truly angels on earth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Merti Nail; and brother Frankie Nail all from Crossville. Survivors include his beloved wife of over 55 years, Joanne Nail, who he loveingly referred to as “His Heart”. Daughters and sons-in-Law, Vicki and Doug Smith of Harriman; Cheri and Jeff Patton of Kingston. Son and Daughter-in-Law, R. E. and Reva Nail of Kingston. Seven Grandchildren, Bud and David Smith of Harriman, Travis and Traci Patton of Kingston, Cara and Alyssa Raymond-Nail of Kingston and Robert Nail of McEwen, TN. Three sisters and one brother. Funeral 8pm Friday May 18, 2007 in the Kyker Chapel with Chaplain Tom Baez officiating followed by a Masonic memorial service by Union Lodge #38 F & AM. Burial 11am Saturday in Roane Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard.
