Anna Kathleen McCarroll

Anna Kathleen McCarroll went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 at 4:58 a.m., in Sweetwater, Tennessee. She was 96 years old. She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Anna Bell Plemons; brother J.T. Plemons; husband, Cecil Burnett McCarroll Sr.; children, Cecil B. McCarroll Jr., Stephen T. McCarroll, William “Billy” D. McCarroll and Bonnie Lee Fain. She is survived by her children: Sy and Kenton Hartman and Dr. James and Sandra McCarroll; daughter-in laws: Joanna McCarroll, and Susan McCarroll; son-in-law Don Fain; grandchildren: Caleb McCarroll and Jessica and Bradley Haston; Perry and Megan Hartman, Paige and Mark Wilson, Jeff and Tyler Millsaps, Dwight and Stepenie Millsaps, Jason and Susie Millsaps, Cecil and Evelyn McCarroll III, William J. McCarroll, Sara Germino, James and Mackenzie McCarroll Jr, Micah and Kaylynn McCarroll, Nathan and Linae McCarroll, Joshua “Peter” and Madi McCarroll, Joseph McCarroll; great grandchildren: Altas, Griffin and Liam Haston, Helena Hartman, Caroline McCarroll, Cheyenne Millsaps, Easton Millsaps, Timber Shrader, Josiah, Jeremiah and Jonah Wilson, Matthew, Benjamin, and Bailee Millsaps, Austin, Alyssa, Haylee, and Emily McCarroll; great-great grandchildren, Joseph Shrader, Clayton Shrader, and Olivia Millsaps. Kathleen was an educator who taught elementary and secondary school students, whom she dearly loved and shared many fond memories with. Some called her “Machine Gun” McCarroll. We can only imagine how she got that nickname. She was a volunteer at Sweetwater Hospital for many years and enjoyed helping brides plan their weddings and receptions. She was a devout Christian and walked daily in the presence of the Lord, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to anyone who would listen. She was a wild old bird who had her own “Kathleen way” about her until her last breath. She did everything on her own terms and was always dressed to the nines. Anyone who knew her, even for a second, had a “Kathleen story”. She was a writer, a reader, and felt that a true lady only drinks her coffee black and very, very hot. No one ever saw her without a pin and paper in her hand, and if you ever find an old book with half cursive writing in all the once open spaces, odds are it was once read by Kathleen. Receiving of friends will be held on Saturday, December 28th, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at Kyker Funeral Homes, located at 113 W. North Street, Sweetwater, TN 37874 with Rev. Thomas Cochran officiating. A processional will immediately follow with internment at Christianburg Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jeff Millsaps, Dwight Millsaps, Jimmy McCarroll, Micah McCarroll, Nathan McCarroll, and Peter McCarroll. There are so many wonderful people who touched Kathleen’s life who we greatly appreciate. We want to give special recognition to Emily Phillips, who Kathleen loved as if she was her own daughter. We are very thankful to her for the time she spent visiting, reading the Bible, singing and providing comfort to her. She truly blessed Kathleen’s life.
