Bess Mee

Bess Williams Mee, age 87, of Harriman, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, in Knoxville. She was born December 24, 1929, in Knoxville to Sam and Robbie Williams. She married the love of her life, L.D. Mee in 1955. L.D. Passed away on March 4, 2013. Bess was a member of the First Christian Church in Harriman, where she served in several capacities including organist for several years. She also served as organist at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Harriman, TN, for approximately 10 years prior to her marriage to L.D. She was retired from the Bank of Roane County in Harriman, TN, after 43 years. She held many positions and was Vice President of Human Resources and Secretary to the Board of Directors upon her retirement. She adored her children and grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. She loved the Lord and made him the center of her life and marriage. Bess was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; Son Lonnie Mee; Brothers Joe and Dell Williams; Sister Edna Cross; Brother-In-Law J.W. Mee; niece Debbie Pierce; nephews Craig Williams and Denny Pierce. Survivors include her daughter Susan and husband Mike Walker, Kingston, TN; granddaughters Sloan and husband Ryan Chesney of Knoxville, TN, Abbey and husband Tyler Brown of Kingston, TN, Allie Walker of Kingston, TN, Kaley Mee of Kingsport, TN; brothers Sam Williams, Steve and wife Judy Williams of Harriman, TN; sisters Becky and husband Alvin Pierce of Kingston, TN, Evon and husband Bob Crowder of Emory, VA; brothers-in-law Leon Cross of Rome, GA, Frank Mee of Harriman, TN; sisters-in-law Jeanette Powell, Oakdale, TN, Pernia Martin, Harriman, TN, Virginia Easter, Harriman, TN; daughter-in-law Robbie Mee, Knoxville, TN; and many nieces and nephews; two special cousins, Lee and wife Doris Schweickart of Georgetown, OH, also Jim and wife Jean Schweickart of Bethel, OH. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church in Harriman, on Sunday, November 26, 2017, from 4:30 – 6:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM with Tyler Brown, Josh Head and Mason Goodman officiating. Interment will be in Roane Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 27, 10:00 AM. Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman is serving the Mee Family.
