Clayton "Clay" Inman

Clayton "Clay" Inman Clay left this earth much too soon with much left to do, he passed away on January 11, 2013, at the age of 56 He is preceded in death by infant son Logan Lane Inman and sister Cindy Inman He is survived by the love of his life and spouse Dian Standridge Inman and step granddaughter Cyla Wright, whom he called daughter and "his baby girl". He is also survived by parents Roy and Gale Inman of Sweetwater, brother Bill Inman and sister In law Darlene Inman. Sister's Kathy Inman Poor and Terri Inman Ellis. He also leaves behind his beautiful daughter Shannon Inman Davis, and son Cory Inman of Louisiana. Several nieces and nephews are left behind along with one special friend he called brother Willi Harms. He attended Sweetwater High School graduating in 1974 He served proudly in the United States Army, joining at 17 and left for what was still the Vietnam War. He was also a disabled American Veteran suffering injuries while on active duty. He rose to the rank of corporal commanding his squad during the end of the Vietnam War. He was attached to the elite Special Forces Unit stationed at Fort Bragg NC and in Germany, where he was awarded several medals of commendation. He worked for Long Engineers and Drilling, building bridges and superstructures for 23 years. He was also a member of the VFW, and the steamfitters, pipefitters union out of Chattanooga TN. He spent his adult years traveling with his work leaving many friends along the way, however his heart belonged in Sweetwater and to many friends of Sweetwater, many friends have traveled and live away but thanks to Face Book he was able to reconnect after many years. This gave him great pleasure. He asked that no flowers be sent but if anyone wishes they may donate to their local Veterans Association to assist homeless veterans. His ashes will be joined with his brides upon her passing, spending the rest of eternity until Jesus returns. The Reverend Tony Rutherford will officiate the memorial service Family and friends will gather at Kyker's Funeral Home, June 8th @ 2pm to celebrate his life and to say farewell, until we meet again. He was strong in both his Catholic and later Baptist faith. All are welcome.
