Dorothy Mae True

Dorothy Mae (Duckett) True completed her earth journey on February 18, 2016. She had been a resident of Wood Village Nursing Home in Sweetwater Tn for the past four years. Dorothy was born August 12, 1930, the daughter of Dallas Preston and Lillie Mae (Beavers) Duckett. While her childhood was spent in the Sweetwater TN area, she later lived in Michigan and Maryland. She spent many years serving faithfully as a mother, grandmother and pastors wife. She is predeceased by her former husband Frank True Jr, infant son James Thomas True, sister and brother-in-law (Margaret and Bill Chessher, brothers- Samuel (Ronnie)Duckett and Robert Moore, Brother-in-law-(Grey Pitcock). She is survived by children, Richard True (Beverly) Gail Sexton and Jeffrey True (Carolyn) , grandchildren, David and Michael Stender, Cindy Stuffle, (Wade), Erin Goff(Jason)Amy True all of Maryland and Sarah Bradford (Shawn) of Alabama, great grand children Emmalyn and Nathaniel. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her beloved brother Raymond Duckett and his wife Wanda, a sister, Beatrice Pitcock, sister-n-law Cricket Duckett of Sweetwater Tn. Before Alzheimer stole her precious memories, she fondly recalled loving kindness from special niece Diane Bohannon, nephew Dale Duckett, and daughter through love, Ella McNeil. Dorothy shared many wonderful days and memories with friends and sister-n-laws Mattie Ruth (True) Worthy and Mildred (True) Beeler. There are also other nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family from The Sweetwater Church of God. The family would like to thank all the staff at Wood Village for their kindness during our mothers stay. A very special thanks to nurses Florence and Ruth for their tender loving care, laughter and smiles given to mom. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 3PM Sunday February 21. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home, immediately following visitation with Rev. Bobby Pettitt officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to The Alzheimer Association National Office 225 N.
