Edna McNamer

Mrs. Edna Earl McNamer “Miss Mac” On February 5, 2016 at 1:49PM, a life lived in love, faith, and kindness was concluded. Mrs. Edna Earl McNamer reunited with her husband, Frank, in Heaven. A woman who lived and loved as sweet as the goodies she baked, peacefully drifted away with her family by her side. Mrs. McNamer was born on June 18, 1928. She and her husband Frank opened the Merri-Mac Bakery in Harriman, Tn. in 1954. Most of Harriman, at one point, has enjoyed a birthday or wedding cake decorated with her special touch. She made every treat with love and she loved everyone she made them for. In 2004, Mrs. McNamer was presented with a key to the city on the bakery’s 50th anniversary. She believed in small businesses and the part they played in our city’s growth. She was also a member of First Christian Church in Harriman. Mrs. McNamer was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McNamer; her parents, Flora Mae Jones and John Earl Jones; her sister, Gaynell Drake; and her brother, Charles “Billy” Jones. She has left a host of family and friends who will forever enjoy their memories of her life and love. She is survived by her daughters; Judy and husband Tony Hutton of Milford, Ohio; Jane and husband James Ward of Harriman; and Merri McNamer and husband Dan Charles of Harriman. Mrs. McNamer also leaves a sister, Betty Jean Mounce of Somerset Kentucky; an “adopted son”, Michael Borman of Harriman; three grandchildren, Carla Hutton and husband Dave Faris, Zack Hutton and Zoe Hutton; and her long time house guest, her cat, Boo. A special thanks from the family to Audrey Brown of Silver Angels and the staff of the 3rd floor at Parkwest Hospital for the wonderful care provided to Mrs. McNamer during her journey home. A little bit of flour, a couple of eggs, a little dash of sugar, and a whole lot of love, sure made the world a sweeter place while she baked. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2pm on Monday the 8th of February at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman. The funeral service will follow at 2pm and an interment service will be held at Roane Memorial Gardens. Friends wishing to honor Edna’s memory may send donations to St. Jude’s Hospital. Reception will be held following services at Simply Sweet Bakery.
