Rev. Irby H. Daniel

Rev. Irby H. Daniel age 90 of Ten Mile went to be with the Lord Thursday January 28, 2016. Irby Hubert Daniel was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama on September 18, 1925. He moved with his family to Florida in 1940. He married Hazel Lee Lester February 4, 1945. They made their home in Eagle Lake, Florida. Most everyone knew him as a joke and story teller. He even made his own CD of jokes entitled “Life Gets Funny”. He loved playing Solitare because he knew he would be the winner, and he is still a winner today! He was a hoarder of 3-Muskateer bars, with as many as 4 or 5 bags hidden in his room. He only gave them out at his own discretion. The most important event in his life happened back in 1949 when he went to a revival service at First Assembly of God in Eagle Lake, Florida and gave his heart and life to Jesus Christ. He answered the call of God on his life and began preaching in 1950. He pastored churches in Florida, Virginia, Georgia and California. He evangelized in various states and also built two churches from the ground up which are still active today. His greatest investment was to encourage people in ministry. He and his wife have mentored several young ministers who have gone on to became pastors, evangelists, teachers and church officials. Tonight, he is in the presence of the Lord with treasures that will last for eternity. After he retired, he along with other members of his family attended Harriman Church of God. Preceded in death by daughter Betty Long of Knoxville. He is survived by his wife Hazel Daniel, also of Ten Mile, 4 children; son Phillip Daniel of Ten Mile; son Randy Daniel of Madisonville; son Danny Daniel of Grass Valley, CA; daughter Marsha Newman of Knoxville; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. The family would like to express their thankfulness to the many friends for all the cards, phone calls, prayers and acts of kindness, especially to all the Amedisys Hospice Workers of Sweetwater, TN who gave excellent care as long as he lived. Funeral 8pm Saturday January 30, 2016 in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Mike McCartney of Browns Chapel Church of God of Crossville, TN and Rev.
