James F. "Jimmy" Stewart

James F. “Jimmy” Stewart, age 60. of Madisonville, TN was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 22, 2019; with his life partner Tamara J. Wilson by his side. After a courageous battle with cancer, he is now whole, healed and resting peacefully. Born on March 18, 1959 in Chicago, IL to James H. and Mary Sue (Buzzek) Stewart, they moved as a family to Florida while he was a young boy. Education includes Marathon High School, graduating class of 1978, West Virginia Wesleyan and Broward Community Colleges where he received an associates degree in criminal justice on May 4, 1981. He then graduated from Broward Police Academy and launched his law enforcement career as a patrolman for the city of Hallandale Police Department that same year. The remainder of his law enforcement career was spent with the Indian River County Sheriff’s office in Vero Beach, Fl. James held many distinguished positions and received extensive training retiring as a Motor Sergeant for the Traffic Unit. Retirement transplanted James and Tammy to Madisonville, TN where he was able to focus on his life long passions of trading law enforcement patches and enjoying his motorcycle. James was fortunate enough to realize a long time dream by experiencing Alaska on a 28 day excursion in 2008, his brother Karl at his side (a good time had by all). James was known for his gentle way his loyalty, and his willingness to share a smile or story that would lighten your day. He enjoyed quite time at home with his family and was an excellent parental role model to Bradley Wilson and Belinda McGraw, lovingly known as papaw to their three children: Leo, Charli, and Elijah James. Survive by his mother: Mary Sue Hoglund, brother: Karl (Belinda) Hoglund, uncle: Peter A. (Joan) Buzzek, aunt: Julie (Matt) Carey, nephew: Kyle Hoglund, and eight cousins, James was preceded in death by his father: James H. Stewart and uncle: David Buzzek. A celebration of life service will be conducted on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP) or your local animal shelter. God is Greater than the Highs and lows. We will carry your memory in our hearts always.
