James Don Warren, Sr.

Don Warren left his devoted family and friends Saturday November 11, 2006 to join family and friends awaiting a joyous reunion with him in heaven. He will be mourned by many including his extended family at Holiday Out R.V. park at Lake Tansi. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Captain Warren flew helicopters for the 161st Assault Helicopter Company, “A” Company, 123rd Aviation Battalion, and with the famed “Blue Ghost” of F Troop, 8th Cavalry, while in Viet Nam. Warren was a highly decorated officer receiving the bronze star and numerous other medals. Between tours he served as a flight instructor at Fort Rucker, AL. Don retired from the Department of Energy December 31, 1997. He was with the Y-12 site office as an Industrial Specialist at the time of his retirement. After retirement he was the owner of Century Auto on Gallaher Road. Don also proudly served as chairman of the board of directors at Holiday Out for 5 years. He was a caretaker of his mother-in-law during her illness and has thoroughly enjoyed his role as custodial parent of his granddaughter Jessica Wolfe. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Jolly Warren, sister Marilyn Warren, In-Laws Emerson and Arbie Moore, grandson Christopher Warren and nephew Jason Warren. He is survived by his wife of 22 years Judy Warren; Sons and daughter-in-laws Donnie and Becki Warren of Honolulu, HI; Michael and Carrie Warren of New Albany, IN; Andrew Warren and Nancy Brady of Kingston; Stepsons and daughter-in-laws Joel and Carol Wolfe of Kingston; Roger and Rhonda Wolfe of Kingsport; Jason Wolfe of Harriman and Jennifer Wolfe of Baton Rouge, LA; Grandchildren James, Emily and Ryan Warren of Honolulu, HI; Kenny, Issiac and Matthew of New Albany, IN; Andrew Jr. and Joy Warren of Virginia Beach, VA; Corie Warren of Lenoir City; Cody Tipton of Spring City, Xavier Johnson, of Anderson County; Step grandchildren Josh Wolfe of Knoxville; Jessica and Chloe Wolfe of Kingston, Ryan and Russell Wolfe of Kingsport; Jared Wolfe of Baton Rouge, LA;Step mother Reba Beckler Warren of Oak Ridge; Brother and sister-in-law Mike and Kathy Warren of Anderson County; Niece Kasi Warren of Oak Ridge; Aunt Amanda Lockhart of Rockwood. Funeral 8pm Tuesday November 14, 2006 in the Kyker Chapel with Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. Burial 10am Wednesday in Kingston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Tuesday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
