Julia Cardelia Martin Dawson

Julia Cardelia Martin Dawson was born on December 20, 1923 in Midtown Tennessee, to Maggie Robinnette and Benjamia William Martin. Cardelia was the 3rd oldest of eight children. Cardelia's approach on everything was with a sense of nurturing and passion. Cardelia enjoyed laughter, sewing, cooking, traveling, supporting and up lifting others toward their higher potentials. Cardelia liked various kinds of music. Her local favorite being The Douglas Family Singers. Cardelia was a meek and gentle woman that really enjoyed the presence of kids all around her. She liked beautiful sunny days for preparing to have a yard sale or having a yard sale with her grandson Charles "Nuk" on her side. Siblings that passed - sisters Sonja Grove, Viole Harrison, brother J.B. Martin, daughter Betty Ann Eskridge Reid and granddaughter Betty Brook. Mrs. Cardelia Dawson leaves to cherish her memory, two precious sisters Ollie Martin and Nomonia Cherry and children Bennie Dawson of Thomasville, GA; Alice Moore (James) of Knoxville; Doris Martin of Oak Ridge, TN; Nathan (Darlen) Dawson of Rantoul, IL; Nathaniel Dawson of California; Judy Dawson of Wayne, MI; Kathy Dawson of Midtown, TN; Jula Anderson of Knoxville, TN; Lewis Dawson of Christiana, TN; Tyrone Dawson of Patterson, N.J.; and Zenia Dawson of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Geno, Lynn, Bradly, Rodney, Nicole, DeMarkius, Dion, Devon, Benjamia, Joe, Brain, Antionia, Deanna (Gregory) Ward, Sherry, Terry, William (Ellen) Sanders, Durral, Jay, Victor, Steven, Candies, Benjamia, Jason, Deshawn, Tavarres, Jordan and 50 great grand kids, 42 great great grand kids and 2 great great great grand kids; a host of nieces, nephews and a host of very special friends. We, the family of Mrs. Julia Cardelia Dawson, wish to express our heart felt appreciation for every act of kindness shown during this time of Bereavement. Your prayers have increased our Faith, your words have encouraged our hearts. Your lovely cards and beautiful flowers have added a ray of sunshine and your presence today has given us shoulders to lean on. Let us rejoice together in all of our memories and embrace having known a very special blessed woman. May GOD continue to bless and keep all of you in his care. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1pm Thursday February 20, 2014 at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Midtown, TN. The funeral will follow at 1pm. Burial in Roane Memorial Gardens.
