Lila Frances Henry

Lila Frances Blasingame Henry passed peacefully into her perfect new body and heavenly home on Monday morning April 30, 2018 at 2:35 AM surrounded by her loving family. Whether you knew her as Aunt Lila, Wiwey, AL, Miss Lila, Aunt Liley, Teacher, The Avon Lady, Coach, Sister, Adopted Mother or “The Little Antique Lady from Swan Pond Circle”, you knew when you were with Lila that you were in the presence of a rare and precious soul and you knew that you were welcome and loved. Lila worked as office manager for Christmas Lumber Company for 56 years. She was a long time, faithful member of Riverside Baptist Church, still teaching Sunday School at 90 years young. Lila’s greatest joys included being surrounded by her family and friends and especially by children. She loved a good Rook game, playing horseshoes, dominoes, cheering on the Vols, and cooking for people she loved. Lila took many people into her home and raised them as if they were her own. Lila is preceded in death by her father and mother, Lester Elbert and Verda Ellen Tackett Blasingame, as well as by her siblings, William George(Willadean) Blasingame, Nolan (Reba) Blasingame, James (Virginia) Blasingame, Floyd (Carolyn) Blasingame, Joyce Blasingame (Bill) Fullwood and Charles (Juanita) Blasingame. Lila is also reunited with her baby, Ray Henry, Jr. who died at birth. Lila leaves several generations of nieces and nephews, as well as some precious neighbors and friends that she counted as family, as well as her adored cat, Troubles. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday May 6, 2018 from 1:00—3:00 at Riverside Baptist Church in Harriman, TN with funeral to follow at 3:00 PM. A procession will leave Kyker’s Funeral Home in Harriman,Tennessee at 10:00 Monday, May 7 with graveside services at Roane Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM . In lieu of flowers, Lila requested that donations be sent to the Family Life Center at Riverside Baptist Church, Shriner’s Hospital, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, TN. The family wishes to thank the community and all the many people who have loved and supported Lila through her 90 incredible years. Lila leaves a legacy of kindness, humor, strength, love and faithfulness and will be forever missed.
