Marjorie Faye Hawkins

Marjorie Faye Hawkins, 82, passed from this life on July 2, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family. Born March 1, 1928, in Harriman, Tennessee, Marjorie was the third of eleven children of Basil Maynard Human and Fannie Clark Human. During WWII, Marjorie worked as a volunteer nurse at Harriman Hospital and there met her first husband, Roy A. Tucker, Sr., while he was healing from an accident. They married and had three children, Judith Faye, Phyllis Ann, and Roy Tucker, Jr. They lived in Mississippi early in their marriage then moved to Memphis, Tennessee. Several years after Roy’s death in 1962, Marjorie was married to Ralph M. Hawkins until his death in 1991. They lived in Memphis and then later in Washington state. After retiring, Marjorie and Ralph traveled extensively all over the United States in their RV, living the life of full-time adventurers. She continued to travel alone after Ralph’s death until she settled in Chimacum, Washington, and lived there several years. In 2007, she moved to Olympia, Washington, to be near her daughter, Phyllis. In October of 2009, Marjorie decided to move back to Roane County, where she was born, to be close to her extended family. She lived in Kingston. Marjorie and her husband, Ralph, jointly owned a real estate brokerage company in Memphis, Tennessee, until her retirement. Marjorie obtained her private pilot’s license at the age of 44 and enjoyed flying for several years. She also was a licensed HAM radio operator and enjoyed talking with people all over the world. Marjorie was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Ladies Auxiliaries of Zaman Grotto and Shrine Temple. She loved to travel and traveled widely, both in the United States and throughout the world. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Roy A. Tucker, Sr. and Lt. Cmdr Ralph M. Hawkins (US Navy – Retired); her daughter, Judith Faye Ramage; a sister, Anna Mae Human; brothers, Carl Edward Human, Wendell Earl Human and Kenneth Ray Human. She is survived by daughter Phyllis Ryan and husband Calvin, Olympia, WA; a son Roy A. Tucker, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Ragan Anderson, Chugiak, AK, great-grandchildren, Shelbi and Brandon Anderson, Chugiak, AK; two brothers, Maynard Human and wife, Alice, Harriman, TN; William Charles Human, Quartzsite, AZ; sisters, Mildred Holloway, Concord, NC; Betty Saliba, Mary Burney, Ruby Spakes, all of Kingston, TN; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to Specially Thank nieces and caregivers, Cindi Ariks and Tina Clark for their love and care of their aunt. A memorial service celebrating the life of Marjorie will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 2 p.m., in the chapel at Kyker’s in Kingston. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends at the home of her sister, Mary Helen, at 1107 Blossom Lane, Kingston, Tennessee. Kyker’s in Kingston is in charge of arrangements.
