Merle Miller Rausin

Merle Miller Rausin, age86, passed through a doorway into paradise with Jesus on December 10, 2010. Born on March 11, 1924 in Kingston, TN., her family moved to the Fork Creek Community in Monroe County, TN., in the early 1940’s due to the relocation brought about by the Oak Ridge project. A living example of the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5:3-12, she spent her entire life helping others. She was extremely successful in her chosen field of loving and influencing children through kindness and exemplary living that spoke louder than any words could. No child was ever a stranger to her. Very dedicated to the work of Glenlock Baptist Church, where she was a member for over sixty years. Preceded in death by her husband: James Milton Rausin to whom she was devoted for more than fifty –two years of marriage. Also preceded in death by her precious grandson: Jordan Michael Rausin, parents: Andy H. Miller and Emma H. Miller, brothers: Hugh, Jim, Leo, and Andy K. Miller, and sisters: Willie Scott, and Bernice Miller. She left a legacy through her survivors that include son John Everett Rausin and wife Cindy, daughter: Ann Rausin Pettitt and husband Douglas, son: David Michael Rausin, former daughter-in-law: Tammy Rausin, devoted grandchildren: John Cecil Rausin, Diana Ruth Rausin, Elisabeth LeAnn Pettitt, Hannah Michelle Pettitt, Casey Brooke Rausin, Courtney Nicole Rausin, and Chloe Leigh Ann Rausin, sisters Helen Rogers, and Pat Knight, niece and special neighbor: Mary Allmon, several other nieces and nephews, sister-in-law: Helen Rausin. Merle Miller Rausin’s message to those who read this would be the Bible verse John 3:16. The family will receive friends at Glenlock Baptist Church, located outside of Sweetwater, TN, on Monday December 13, 2010 from 6:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. with the memorial service to immediately follow at 8:00P.M. with Rev. Mitch Isbill, and Rev. J.A. Schaffer officiating. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Cemetery in Madisonville, TN., on Tuesday December 14, 2010, at 12:00P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jordan Rausin Memorial Playground in care of Philadelphia Elementary School in Philadelphia, TN. The family would like to extend special thanks to Gail Burnette, who assisted by providing kind and compassionate Christian care during the last four months of Merle’s special life.
