Paul Gilbert Brakebill, 77, of Niota, TN has gone to be with the Lord. His legacy is carried on by wife of 56 years: Sandra Berryhill Brakebill, of Niota, TN, daughters: Terri Anne Brakebill Davis, of Benton, TN., Valerie Kay Wolfe, of Tampa, FL., son: Jonathan Reed Brakebill and wife (Shelby Renee ), of Niota, TN. 10 grandchildren: Cameron and wife ( Sarah) and their baby, Paul’s only great-grandson Owen, Tate and wife (Anna), Teagan, Landry, Laura, Tadd, Rachel, Tia, Haley, and Annabelle. Paul’s 4 sisters: Barbara, June (deceased), Linda and husband (John), Betty and husband (Ken), 3 sisters-in-law: Shirley and husband (Jimmy), Carol and husband (Mike) , Rhonda, 2 brothers-in-law: Johny and wife (Susan), Donny and wife (Donna), a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: Gilbert Reed and Dorothy Beatrice Brakebill. Paul was blessed to see 6 generations of Brakebill men when his great-grandson Owen was born. Paul was a good man, a hardworking man of faith who taught his children and grandchildren to love Jesus and have a good work ethic. He taught them how to make a little go a long way. A practical and creative man who would rather fix what he had than buy something new. Could think of a way to make or build or repair anything he wanted. A simple man who found all of life's lessons hidden in nature to be discovered. He cared for plants and animals like they were his babies. A playful man who loved to be silly with his kids and make up goofy songs and stories and games. Like swimming in a molasses tank on the back of a truck! A competitive man who always played to win. Cards, golf, pool, his opponents learned to improve their skills before challenging him in a game. A tenderhearted and affectionate man who loved his family with hugs and kisses and wasn't afraid to cry or say "I'm sorry." A passionate man who got very excited about the things he cared about. Especially when he talked about the Bible or worshipped in church. He loved to preach and pray and praise the Lord. Paul and his family grew the famous Brakebill tomatoes for many years. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served as staff sergeant and was a jet engine specialist during the Vietnam War. Paul will be missed and celebrated by many. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the service to follow at 7:00 P.M. in Kyker’s Chapel with Rev. Jeff Evans, and Rev. Phillip Averette officiating. Interment with full military honors will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the McMinn Memory Gardens.
