In Loving Memory of Richard John Allen It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Richard John Allen of Sweetwater, Tennessee. Richard met the Lord on April 27, 2025, at the age of 51. Richard had a deep love for the outdoors, especially the beach, fishing, and hiking. Above all, he devoted his life to his grandchildren, always present at their sporting events, extracurricular activities, and every milestone. He especially enjoyed cooking for his grandchildren and sharing those special moments together. Second only to his love for family was his affection for animals, especially his five rescue cats, each of which held a special place in his heart. He gave them a home filled with love and comfort. Richard cherished his Friday night tradition of dining at Cinco Amigo with Jacqueline and his close circle of dinner friends. In his professional life, Richard was a dedicated employee of the Sweetwater Utility Board for 27 years, faithfully serving his community. He was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church, but regularly attended First Methodist Church. Richard is survived by Jacqueline Mason, Leslie Allen, David Hefty, Kyra Yeager, Natasha Joiner, Christine Craig, Mary Helen Green, Hannah and Jason Gibby, Hagan, Hensley, Brooklyn and Dalen, Hunter and Addie Belle Mason, his Friday family night dinner group, his bike friends, Michael and Lacey Thompson, Emily and Riley Bivens, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Marianne Allen, Ace Mason, Billy Packet, Thomas Green, and Frances Jiles. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to: • SJHS basketball, baseball, and football cheerleaders • SHS basketball, baseball, and volleyball teams • The Fallen Lineman Foundation • Recovery Ministries • Humane Society or any no-kill animal shelter • A special Children’s Fund established at People’s Bank, dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus with children in the community The family extends heartfelt thanks for the love and support shown during this time. Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on May 2, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Memorial Gardens, officiated by Mitch Anderson and Mike Hubble.
