Robert Harvey Johnson

Johnson, Robert Harvey (RH) - age 79 of Sweetwater passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Sweetwater Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, his children at his bedside. We thank God for his grace and mercy and to know that he feels nor more pain and suffering. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 5:00 till 9:00 pm at Kykers Funeral Home, Sweetwater, TN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Notchey Creek Baptist Church, Madisonville, TN with close friend Rev. Gale Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Memorial Gardens, Sweetwater, TN. Pallbearers included members of the Law Enforcement community and Honorary Pallbearers will included Tom Butler, Butch Ervin, Bill Tulloch, Wayne Watson, Walt C. Thomas, and Special Cousin Donnie Huffman. R.H. was a loving son born to Henry and Lucille Johnson in Sweetwater, TN. He was the 1st of 4 children. After graduating from Sweetwater High School, he proudly joined the United States Army and served his country for over 20 years. During his military service, he completed 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict and received numerous military commendations. After retirement from the United States Army, he joined the Monroe County Sheriffs Department, Madisonville, TN and later became the Sheriff from 1978 - 1994. During his service to Monroe County, he gave compassion, strength, friendship, leadership, and respect to the office he held. R.H. was a member of Notchey Creek Baptist Church in Madisonville, TN. He was Christian man who loved the Lord and his Church. Proceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lucille Johnson; mother of his children, Peggy Crabtree Johnson; and sister -in-law Evelyn Johnson, He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Cyndi and Steve Kyker, son and daughter - in - law Robert Harvey (Bob) and Penny Johnson, all of Sweetwater. Loving Grandfather to grandsons and wives, Drew and Amber Isbill of Niota, TN and Wesley and Hayley Isbill of Philadelphia, TN. Step-grandsons and wives, Pat and Kayci Henry of Madisonville, TN and Adam and Karita Henry of Niota, TN and Travis Kyker of Thornton, Colorado. Step-granddaughter and husband Kayla and Dustin Herron of Knoxville, TN. Great-grandchildren whom he adored, Paisley, Chesney, Britton and Piper Isbill and Madison, Brooke and Vivy Henry. Brother and sister-in-law Bill and Judy Johnson of Sweetwater, TN, James "Red" Johnson of Athens, TN and sister Barbara Richardson of Sweetwater, TN. Special niece and husband, Jan and Richard Boyles of Knoxville, TN and many nephews whom he cherished. The love, care and support from the Staff and Third Floor Nurses at Sweetwater Hospital will always carry a special memory with the family of R.H. Johnson,
