Sharon Barnes

Sharon Hamilton Barnes, 62, peacefully passed away to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Sharon was born in Oak Ridge, TN, on August 24, 1956, as the youngest child to Earl Frank Hamilton and Sarah Patton “Pat” Hamilton. She graduated from Roane County High School, at age 16, after receiving her previous education within the Oak Ridge schooling system. During her younger years Sharon performed as a majorette with the school band; she was an outstanding softball player, in which she played competitively for many years; and a beautiful singer. Sharon had been a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Kingston for many years, where she sang in the choir and often performed duets with her loving sister Gale H. Pace. Sharon served as a Senior Collections Officer for the formally known K-25 Federal Credit Union in Oak Ridge for several years. Later in life, Sharon served by working with individuals living with disabilities at Michael Dunn Center, and also assisted “Amazing” women by helping them achieve their exercise goals while an employee of Curves International. Sharon will be remembered by the love she had for her family, friends, and as a second mom to many of her sons friends. She will also be remembered for her strength to overcome obstacles faced throughout life. Sharon was preceded in death by parents, Earl F. and Sarah P. Hamilton; brother, Randall E. Hamilton; sister-in-law, Linda Davidson; grandparents, James R. Hamilton, and Martha Elizabeth Snow Hamilton; and aunt, Clara McElroy. She is survived by her loving husband, T.J. Barnes, Kingston, with whom she has been married to for 46 years. Their proudest accomplishments were their two sons: Randall E. Barnes (Nikki), Jacksonville, FL; and, Michael B. Barnes (Kristin), Knoxville. She also leaves behind; brother, William G. Davidson, Athens; sister, Gale H. Pace (Stan), Knoxville; aunt, Eva Baker, Bristol, VA; aunt, Betty Gambill, Morehead, KY; uncle, Roger Dale Hamilton, Oak Ridge; several sister-in-laws; several cousins; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Sharon also had several other family members and friends that she loved dearly. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday Aug. 8, at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston. A service will begin at 8 p.m. with Rev. Ronnie Nickell officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
