In Loving Memory of Verna Lee Phillips Paul Born February 4, 1950 – Died November 6, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Verna Paul, a beloved wife, mother, and mammaw, who peacefully left this world on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the age of 73. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love, dedication, and the profound impact she had on her family and friends. Verna, daughter of the late Jack and Cora Lee Phillips is one of 14 children and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews who she loved and cherished. She was a loving and caring wife to her devoted husband, Dr. George Paul, for 53 years, and their bond served as a shining example of a strong enduring partnership. Her most cherished role was a mother to her three children: Thomas Paul (Yvonne), Jack Paul (Angie), and Missy Paul Millard (Brian). Verna selflessly dedicated her life to raising her children, providing them with love, guidance, and support. Her nurturing presence created a warm and loving home where memories were made, and love was abundant. As a mammaw, Verna had the joy of welcoming five beautiful grandchildren into her life: Autumn Millard Bolhuis (Spencer), Chloe Paul, Ashley Millard, Briley Paul, and Camden Paul. She relished the role of being their mammaw, creating lasting bonds and filling their lives with love, wisdom, and laughter. Throughout her life, Verna was known for her devotion to God and family, her unwavering support, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed simple pleasures like gardening, cooking, and reading, and she shared these passions with her family. Her family would like to express their deep gratitude to all friends and loved ones who have shown their support during this difficult time. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Verna Paul will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 10a.m. until 11:30a.m. with a service to follow at 11:30a.m. at Kyker Funeral Homes in Sweetwater, Tennessee, where friends and family can come together to pay their respects, share memories, and find solace in the love they shared with her. A graveside service following the memorial service will be held at 3p.m. in the Chattanooga Memorial Park. May Verna’s sweet soul find eternal peace with God our Father, and may her memory live on as a reminder of the profound love and dedication she brought into the live of those who were fortunate to know her.
