Vidia "Adelene Daniels

VIDIA “ADELENE” DANIELS, age 88, of Harriman, TN, entered peacefully into the presence of her Lord Jesus on Monday, February 23, 2015. Born as Adelene Thornton on January 25, 1927 in Coalfield, TN, she graduated from Coalfield High School before moving to Harriman. She worked (unknowingly) on the atomic bombs as part of the Manhattan Project at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. After WWII, she gave many years of loyal service to the Roane Hosiery Company in Harriman, where her late husband, Ed Daniels, also spent his entire career. Adelene was a lifetime member of the Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Harriman. She was loved and revered by everyone who knew her. She was best known for her beautiful blue eyes, her gracious hospitality and her fabulous cooking (especially her coconut pie). She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Daniels, of Harriman; and her eldest brother, Gillis Thornton, of Rockwood. Adelene will be deeply missed by her survivors, including: son, Ricky Daniels (Debbie), of Knoxville; daughter, Jaylene Baisley, of Knoxville; former son-in-law, Gary Baisley, of Rockwood; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: grandson, Mike Baisley (Ashley) and their children, Ben, Claire and their third child due this summer, of Knoxville; grandson, Kyle Baisley (Mandy) and their son, Nolan, of Knoxville; and One granddaughter Megan Daniels, of Knoxville. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert Thornton (Marcella), of Rockwood; sister, Martha McSween (Charles), of Kingston; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and several close friends, including Jean Bullington, Wilma Potter and Mildred Hacker. The family would like to express their gratitude to the 2nd Floor nursing staff at Shannondale Healthcare Facility in Knoxville, for their compassionate care of Adelene. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow immediately afterwards in Kyker’s chapel, co-officiated by Rev. Dennis Jarnigan and Rev. Mike Winters. Internment will be Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood.
