Wayne C. Henry

Wayne C. Henry, age 89 of Paint Rock, TN was ushered into heaven surrounded by his loving wife and family on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at his home. Wayne was born to Robert and Josie Houser Henry in Sevierville, TN. When his father bought a farm and moved to Paint Rock in his teen years. There he met his beautiful wife of 70 years. While Wayne was walking by the way, Gwen’s father and family was driving by on their way to church and offered a ride. He hopped in the back of the truck and Gwen said, “Hang on Henry”. His favorite saying was, “I’ve been hanging on ever since.” He retired from Labor’s Local 818 of Oak Ridge after 30 years of service. He was a faithful member, deacon, and Sunday school teacher at Cedar Fork Baptist Church. His passions included gardening, hunting, creating, solving problems and his faith. He was a quite intellect with wisdom. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents: Josie and Robert Henry, brothers and sisters Clyde, Richard, Fred, and Evelyn Johnson, and a granddaughter: Julie Henry. Survivors include his cherished wife of 70 years: Gwen Henry, children: Dewey (Eva) Henry, Shirley (Ron) Harden, Billy (Carolyn) Henry, grandchildren: Dana McSpadden (Charles), Danny Ashburn (Pam), Tonya Wallis (Tim), James Henry (Courtney), Tony Henry, brother: Clay Henry, sister: Marie Bettis, great-grandchildren: Whitney Torbett (Jacob) Kayla Lee (Ty), Alex Thomason (Sara-Beth), Lindsey Peak (Matt), Maddie Wallis, Karley Wallis, great-great-grandchildren: Thomas Henry, Lilly Henry, Madison Peak, Makenzie Peak, Beau Torbett, Callum Torbett, Cade Lee, and Tucker Thomason. Along with several nephews, nieces. Sister-in-law: Eloise Henry, brother-in-law: Moses Maggard ( Rosemary) Special thanks to Primary Care Management: Courtney Henry, Jessica Collis, special care givers: Joan Holt, Jean Bettis, Janet Thompson, staff of Adoration Hospice group: Becca Aikens, Lea, Lexi, Linda, Beth, Brook Torbette. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Cedar Fork Baptist Church from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Clayton Dunsmore, Rev. Tim Watson and Rev. George Maddox officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
