David William Bertram

David William Bertram aka 'Dave' was born May 4,1947 in Harriman, TN to the late Rev. John Melvin and Carnellar Bertram. He entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He attended the Bazeltown Elementary and Campbell High Schools. He eventually made his home in Cleveland,OH where he resided for numerous years before returning back to his hometown of Harriman, TN He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Bazeltown Baptist Church and later affiliated himself with Anointed Praise and Worship Church. David's love and passion for music was in quartet singing. He LOVED singing. During his singing ministry he was a member of several groups to include, The Five Star Jubilee Singers where he was known as 'Lil' Dave,& The Live Wires, Harriman, TN, The Gospel Exciters of Champagne, IL, True Believers of Cleveland, OH. He graced the stages with most of the renowned Gospel Quartet Artist. His hobbies were working on antique cars and playing checkers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Evangeline Bertram, four brothers: Curtis, Elmer 'Pete', Thurman and Ralph Bertram, six sisters: Evangelist Juanita Stewart, Everdeen Morris, Lillie Mae Douglass, Louise, Helen and Minnie Bertram. He leaves to cherish his loving memory a devoted wife, Melinda Bertram. Children: Damita (Joe) Eskridge, Brian (Teresa) Pendergrass, Denard, Devin, Kevin Bertram, Shera (Jonathan) McGill all of Harriman, TN, Cynthia (Rob) Morris and Rachel Tutstone, Knoxville, TN, Danille Summers, Athens, TN, Greg (Jeanne) Hill, Oliver Springs, TN, David, Davine and Nafeia Bertram , Cleveland, OH, LesLa (C.J.) Collins, San Diego, CA, April Compton and David Trez Johnson, Akron, OH, Tameia (Wattdell) Cooper, Concord, OH, Kasha Johnson, Painsville, OH, Andre Johnson, Denver, CO. A devoted and faithful adopted son: William Wright, Harriman, TN. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mother-in-law: Marilyn (Willie) Johnson, Harriman, TN. Two sisters-in-law: Margaret Miller, Knoxville, TN and Colisa Hacker, Harriman, TN. One aunt: Barbara Johnson, Oak Ridge, TN. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Best friends: Jerry Eskridge, Curtis Anderson, Brandon Hutchison, Bobby Martin and Garland Johnson. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 11am until 12pm at the Believers Voice of Deliverance Church with funeral service to follow with the Rev. Denard Bertram and the Rev. Alvin Douglass officiating. Burial to follow funeral at Roane Memorial Gardens. Kyker Funeral Home in Harriman in charge of arrangements
