August 10, 2000 - February 2, 2022

Private First Class Gerrit Seyfi Walker Erkan passed in his Cosby, Tennessee home on February 02,2022, at the young age of 21. Private First Class Gerrit Seyfi Walker Erkan was born on August 10,2000 in Patchogue, NY to Michele and Seyfi Erkan. He is survived by his sister Krystal, brother Brian, sister Ashley, niece Savannah, nephew Daniel, niece Ava, niece Kay-Lani, niece Gemma, Uncle David, Aunt Jamie, cousin Brittany, cousin Hailee, cousin Robbie, cousin Raelin, second cousins Marcus and Anthony. Private First Class Gerrit Seyfi Walker Erkan was preceded in death by his grandmother Linda whom he loved, cherished and admired, his grandfather Edward who served in the Marines during Vietnam and his Step grandfather Daniel who served in the United States Army. Private First Class Gerrit Seyfi Walker Erkan graduated from Cocke County High School with state honors in 2019. He attended Walter State University for one year in Morristown, Tennessee before he decided to enlist in the Army National Guard with Unit Detachment 1 Troop A Support Squadron 278th Armed Calvary Regiment in New Tazewell, Tennessee in May 2000. He enrolled as a Heavy Wheeled Vehicle Driver. Private First Class Gerrit Seyfi Walker Erkan was special to everyone he crossed paths with, he was funny, intelligent, loving, artistic and with the biggest heart of gold. He enjoyed playing the Violin and sang beautifully. He mastered the art of basket weaving after having just one lesson with his grandmother Linda. He loved the outdoors and the glorious Mountain scenery that Tennessee had to offer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him. Family and friends will gather at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, on Wednesday February 09, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 P.M. in the Sweetwater Memorial Park with full Military Honors. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, in charge of arrangements. www.kykerfuneralhomes.com
