Shirley Jane Thomas

To a beautiful life comes a happy end, she lived as she died everyone’s friend. Shirley Jane Thomas/ Wiseman, age 76, passed away peacefully February 8, 2022 after a long battle of dementia and with her sons by her side. Shirley was born April 1 1945 in Vonore Tennessee to George Thomas and Margaret Gray. She was raised by her mother Margaret and step-father Don Loope. She married Joseph Lee Wiseman October 31, 1962 and went on to have 2 daughters and 2 sons followed by many grand and great grandchildren and was known by all of Monroe county as mamaw. A cherished mother and grandmother you are and were….and will forever be. You loved us throughout a lifetime and we’ll love you throughout eternity. As children you were our mom and our strength, the force upon which we relied. You helped us grow through life’s laughter and tears and you always stood by our side and when we brought our own children home your commitment only grew, you helped them, played with them, and loved them as only a grandmother can do and our children came to adore you, for you spoiled them with love and affection. You treasured each one in such special ways and though they were denied more days and years with a grandmother as wonderful as you. You’ve filled their hearts with sweet memories that’ll remain a lifetime through. Dearest mother and grandmother we love you, we find we cannot do enough to express the depths of our gratitude for your sacrifice and your love but trust that you’ll be remembered in sweetest memories every day for you have blessed our lives forever through your goodness, love, and strength. Shirley was preceded in death by: (father) George Stanley Thomas, (mother) Margaret Zelma Gray, (step-father) Don Loope, (brother) Robert Joseph Loope who went by Bobby Loope, (daughters) Lauren Elisha Ellis and Donna Leigh Wiseman, and (daughter in law) Sheila Renee Wiseman. Shirley is survived by: (sister) Elizabeth and husband Scott Mcken, (sons) Joseph Keith and wife Debra Diana Wiseman, & Charles Craig and wife Hope Michelle Wiseman, (Grandchildren) Jessica Jenkins, Stacey and husband Mike Adams, Jeremy and wife Emily Ellis, Brandon Wiseman, Mathew Cheek, Keisha and father of children Francisco Salazar, Crystal and husband Preston Woods, Paula and husband Bruce Alexander, Josh and wife April Wiseman, Bobby Wiseman and mother of children Destiny Grant, Summer and husband Drew Torbett. (Nephew) Travis Hamilton; Nieces, Tonya (Mark) Roberts, Angie (Joey) Oechsrner, and Shannon Miller. Shirley has 21 great grandchildren ranging in ages 23 years to 10 months. Please join us celebrating her life Friday evening February 11, 2022 between 5:00 & 7:00 at Sweetwater Memory Chapel, 1838 US-11, Sweetwater, TN 37874. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm following the viewing at the Sweetwater Memorial Chapel. The burial will be held on Saturday February 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Community Baptist Church Cemetery. Donations can be made to her son’s Keith and Craig Wiseman.
