Billie J. Hawn

Billie J. Hawn died February 13, 2006 in Harriman of Natural causes. He was born in Frankfort, Tennessee in 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Potter Hawn, brother and sister in law, Ivan and Jean Hawn, sister and brother in law Iva and Howard Waters, and grandson Bryon Scott Sanfilippo. Other family members preceding him in death were his mother in law and father in law, Jess and Recie Bell Tapp Walker, Bill Walker, Gertrude Martin, Mildred and Odell Byrd, Tom Lemmons, Hubert Frost, Eugene Turpin, and Gloria Walker. Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frankie Lucille Walker Hawn and children, Brenda and Bob Goebbel of Brighton, Michigan, Sandy and Sam Sanfilippo of Brooklyn, Michigan, Danny Hawn of Michigan and Terry J. and Kristen Hawn of Traverse City, Michigan. Grandchildren include Carrie and Doug Fauer and their three children Amanda, Caitlinn, and Douglas of Howell, Michigan, Rob and Vicky Goebbel of Brighton, T.J. Sanfilippo and his two children, Todd and Samual of Brooklyn, Michigan, Tara and Derek Richardson and their son Kyle also from Brooklyn, Michigan. Other surviving in laws include Louise Lemmons King of Harriman, Helen Walker of Michigan, Ann Frost of Cleveland, Allen Walker of Michigan, Alvin Walker of Harriman, Maxcine Turpin of Harriman, and J.B. and Wanda Walker of Harriman and special friends Johnny and Edith Ladd and Lee Cantrell also from Harriman. Billie served in the Army Air Corp. He was proud to be a Free Mason and member of the Blue Lodge 32 in Hillsdale, Michigan. Bill Hawn was a wonderful husband and father. He overcame many obstacles from his childhood to become the man he was; the man his wife called husband and his children were proud to call Dad. We are so honored by him. He retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked at the Experimental Pilot plant in Dearborn, Michigan. Bill was an innovator, receiving several monetary awards and cars for designs adopted and implemented in production by Ford. His work experience also included working with the Florida Alligator Game Control Agency hunting nuisance gators when he moved there after retirement. He also hunted boar, moose and deer but later in life, appreciated having the wildlife to observe. Bill returned to live in Tennessee in 1991 where he pursued his favorite past-time, hunting for brass at garage sales and polishing it in his garage. He found his greatest enjoyment later in life eating his wife's cooking and loving his dogs. He will be deeply missed''''. Funeral 11am Thursday February 16, 2006 in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Silvey officiating followed by a Masonic memorial service. Burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8pm Wednesday at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston.
