Fredric John Theodore Chester

Fredric John Theodore Chester, age 87 years old, of Sweetwater passed away at his home at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2006. He was raised on a beef and grain farm in Hope Town, Ohio, and attended Ohio University where he was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He did additional studies at Ohio State and the University TN. He moved to the Sweetwater Valley and started a dairy operation in 1947. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Sweetwater where he had served as President of The Men of the Church, Elder, Deacon, and church Treasurer. He had served on the Monroe County Agriculture Committee, was a charter member of the Sweetwater Creek Watershed District where he served as treasure for 47 years, a member of the Monroe County Junior Dairy Club, a member of the State and National Holstein Association & was a founding member of the Tennessee State Junior Holstein Association. In 1966, he was an instructor at Hiwassee College, where he taught dairying and farm related topics. Preceded in death by parents: John Easter and Elsie Falter Chester; brother, Miles Chester, sisters Norma Chester Butts, Virginia Chester Quick; son Fredric John Chester Jr. Survivors include: wife of 64 years ' Anna Bingham Chester: Son and daughter 'in- law Charles Reaves (Chad) & Margaret Chester, daughter Rebecca Ann Chester, all of Sweetwater, daughter-in-law Pat Chester of Athens, sister, Betty Chester Rickey of The Plains, Ohio Grandchildren: Fredric John Chester III (Mary Margaret) of Martin, TN. Alice Ann Chester Yeargin (Jay) of Greenfield, TN., Charles Andrew Chester of Parish, FL., Thomas Reaves Chester of Martin, TN., and Anna Becca Chester of Sweetwater, Great grandchild: Mary Anna Chester of Martin, TN. Pallbearers are Bob Sliger, Alan Cleveland, Jerry Frady, Jim Hull, Harris Lovingood, and Dr. Richard Buchanan, Scottie Mayfield, & Morgan Jones: Honorary pallbears: Leo Smith, Jackson Jones, Walter Lumsden, Rev. Ridley Smith, Pete Peterman, Lewis Thompson, and Jim Pedigo. The family will receive friends at Kyker Funeral Home Tuesday evening 5:00P.M. to 8:00 P.M.. The Funeral will be Wedesday 11:00A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Michael Bingham of Columbia, SC, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Sweetwater.
