James A. "Jim" Pedigo

James A. (Jim) Pedigo, 91, of Sweetwater, TN., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was a life-long member of Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church, Sweetwater, where he faithfully served the Lord many years as deacon (also chairman), church treasurer, and Adult Sunday School Class teacher. Mr. Pedigo was preceded in death by his parents, Burton E. and Jean C. Pedigo, and siblings Burton Pedigo, Jr., Russell Pedigo, and Mabel Kelley. He is survived by his wife of 73 years and best friend, Audry A. Pedigo; and daughters and sons-in-law Vickie and Roy Duncan, Clarksville, TN., Peggy and Eddie Filyaw, Knoxville, TN., and Kim and Jon English, Brentwood, TN. He was loving and adored “Papa” to grandchildren Allison Filyaw Pinkston, Andrew (Kelly) Filyaw, Knoxville, TN., Aaron Filyaw, Portland, OR., Brent (Dorothy) Duncan, Brentwood, CA., and Ross English, Birmingham, AL.; as well as beloved great-grandchildren Lee, Samuel, Meghan, and Jack Pinkston, and Pierce and Archie Filyaw, Knoxville, TN., and Dylan and Madeleine Duncan, Brentwood, CA. Mr. Pedigo moved to Sweetwater from Monticello, KY in 1945. He was President of Pedigo Lumber Co. Inc., for well over 60 years. He was a member of the charter group of businessmen who brought Sweetwater’s second bank, Monroe County Bank, to the community. He served many years on their board of directors. Mr. Pedigo was a tireless contributor to his community throughout his lifetime not only in his church, but the Sweetwater City School Board and various organizations in its’ educational system. He was a graduate of Sweetwater High School. Mr. Pedigo loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, following the Kentucky Wildcat’s basketball team, and enjoying traveling especially to “the beach house” in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He will be sorely missed by his family and many life-long friends and extended family. The family would like to thank Family and Faith Home Care for the compassionate care as well as Adoration Hospice Care. The family will greet friends from 5:00P.M. until 6:00P.M. on Thursday, May 26, 2022 prior to the memorial service at 6:00P.M. with Dr. Gerald Atkins, Rev. Johnny Carr, and Rev. Denny Moore officiating at Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church, 112 Key Kile Rd, Sweetwater, 37874. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Tabernacle Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
