Jessie Alberta Lane Wright

Jessie Alberta Lane Wright, age 84, of Kingston, TN passed away Saturday October 27, 2012 at Tennova Residential Hospice in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husband J.D. Wright; parents Rufus H. Lane and Mattie Johnston Lane; sisters Clyde Young and Fayola Hartley; brothers Thomas H. Lane and Jim Lane. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Becky and Billy Long of Leesville, S.C.; Debby and Skip Williams of Kingston; son and daughter-in-law Rusty and Cindy Wright of Kingston; grandchildren John Matthew Wright and Sarah Caroline Wright of Kingston; sister Ernestine Mitchell of Kingston; special friends Emily McDonald and Polk Brown. Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Roane County High School and Tennessee Technological University. She retired after teaching for 37 years within the Roane County and Harriman City School systems. Those schools included being a teaching principal at Edgewood Elementary School and teaching at Harriman Occupational High School. Organizations in which Mrs. Wright was involved included being a 67 year member of Laurel Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star, Roane County Retired Teachers Association, Tennessee Education Association, National Education Association, Avery Trace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), and an auxiliary member of the Gideon's. Mrs. Wright was a lifetime member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed positions as Choir Leader, Music Director, Sunday School Teacher and Vacation Bible School Director. She also held various other positions within the church during her lifetime. Christian Music was an influential part of Mrs. Wright's life. She traveled throughout the Eastern United States for 20 years with the Wright Family Gospel Singers, ministering through music in churches and concerts. She continued to enthusiastically support Christian music locally throughout the rest of her life. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston. Funeral will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. Kenny Rains, Jr. and Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Bradbury United Methodist Church Cemetery on Buttermilk Road. Pallbearers will be Rusty Wright, Matthew Wright, Skip Williams, Mark Melton, Bob Moore and Doug Cook. Honorary pallbearers include Billy Long and Bob Snow.
