Joan Bellamy

Joan Bellamy, 82, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2023. She was born to Mary Lou and Ed Spurgeon on August 23, 1940. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a servant’s heart for all people, but especially her family. Joan loved to help people. Most will remember her for her generosity and caring spirit. Her husband and her were the owners of Bellamy’s Grocery and served the best fried bologna sandwiches, ice cream and hot dogs in East Tennessee. Joan served Burt Reynolds an ice cream cone one day and gave him an extra scoop at no charge. She always put others before herself, but never wanted to be known for all she did to help her community. She was humble, kind and a light has diminished with her passing. In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, William Bellamy; daughter, Teresa Sinclair; son, Rick Bellamy; brothers, Robert Spurgeon, Audie Spurgeon, Kenneth Spurgeon, and great-granddaughters, Christina Caughron and Kaitlyn Bellamy. Joan was blessed to have a large, loving family to cherish her memory. It includes, Toby (Vivian) Bellamy, Kara Bellamy, Billy Spurgeon, Leonard Spurgeon, Jimmy Spurgeon, Gary Spurgeon, Kay Jackson, Jason (Carrie) Sinclair, Michelle Caughron, Denise Brennan, Brandi (Ronnie) Atkins, Keaton Hohlt, Jayden Bellamy, Joshua Bellamy, Michael Sinclair, Nicholas Sinclair, Christopher Sinclair, Jacob Sinclair, Keira Sinclair, Cole Sinclair, Taylor Sinclair, Amilcar (Stacy) Sandoval, Sadie Sandoval, Amelia Sandoval, Love Sandoval, Sable Sandoval and Haley Sandoval. She also leaves behind extended family and friends that are too numerous to list, but know that Joan carried each one in her prayers and heart. Joan’s family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Sweetwater Hospital Association, as well as Dr. Shamblin and staff for the exceptional care they provided to Joan. It is greatly appreciated. Receiving of friends will be on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Kyker Funeral Home Sweetwater. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 PM with Blanche Settles officiating. Interment will be at Sweetwater Memorial Park on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 10:00 AM. For those wanting to go in procession, please arrive at Kyker Funeral Home at 9:00 AM. Kyker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bellamy family.
