Virginia Pearl Thompson Haile

Virginia Pearl Thompson Haile, born on February 22, 1912 in Cookeville, Tennessee passed away on January 10, 2011. Virginia graduated from what is now Tennessee Technological University with a degree in teaching. She taught for many years in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She married Paul F. Haile in 1934 and had one son, Charles Richard. They built a home on Watts Bar Lake in Kingston, Tennessee in the early 1950's. they lived there together for almost 50 years. Virginia enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and wildflowers. She loved to sew and was a talented quilter. Virginia made quilts for all seasons and celebrations. Many brides and newborns treasure her creations and many children have been delighted with her handmade dolls and teddy bears. She was also a wonderful cook. Virginia and Paul joined Kingston United Methodist Church in 1954 and were faithful supporters and members of the church. The EverReady Sunday School Class held many special memories for Virginia. Virginia had many interests, but she enjoyed family the most. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Haile, mother, Mary Jane Sherrell Thompson, and her father James B. Thompson. Also preceded in death by her brothers Paul Thompson and James Thompson and sisters, Anna Ruth Thompson Tigue, Lucile Thompson, Hazel Thompson Patton, and Betty Rose Thompson West. Virginia is survived by her sister, Velma Thompson of Cookeville. She is also survived by her son, Charles Richard Haile and wife Becky of Tellico Village in Loudon, grandson Richard Haile and wife Debbie of Ft. Collins, Colorado, granddaughter Virginia Haile Ramey and husband Doug of Newnan, GA, and granddaughter Lucy Haile Griffey and husband Richard of Kingston, and six great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers of Baptist Healthcare in Lenoir City for the outstanding care given to Virginia during her stay. A memorial service in her honor will be 1pm Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Kingston United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011 or the Kingston United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Kingston Memorial Gardens. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying, or pain. All these are gone forever." Rev. 21:4.
